help please, dash light codes problem

Post by Bri » Sat Feb 09, 2013 3:13 pm

Okies so I just saved my silver lude from being stripped and broken and got 12 months MOT put on it but I have a puzzle to solve.

I have the brake bulb warning light on my dash and brake light are all working ok, so I tried changing the clusters because it had been a cure on my old red lude for that, no joy. My ABS light comes on and the TC light, after a short distance my 4ws light comes on and I lose 4ws.

The codes are :

TC is a code 44
4WS 36
ABS is 2 lots of 4 fast flashes

Its messing my head up I wonder if there is an ABS sensor on the blink, but I cant find a list of codes and my manual has gone west.

Any help appriciated :D

sounds silly, but are the gaitors ok? I had one go and grease got chucked all over the speed sensor ring on the CV - couldnt read it, threw a code. Cleaned it all up, fitted new gaitor, prob solved.

That ABS and 4WS code is right rear sensor.

How the hell did you get codes out of the TC? I can't get mine to do anything!!!
(Mind you, even if I could, I wouldn't have a clue what it meant because I've never been able to find a list of the fault codes anywhere!)

Nice one chaps, ABS right rear would throw a code for 4WS too right? The gators must be ok it passed the MOT but I will double check. keep ideas coming :D

We need the fault code list making sticky in tech section when anybody finds and posts them up.

we all know a dodgy bulb will trigger all those lights so any part of the braking system will do that

Yep, that's what I meant;
44 on the ABS is right rear sensor
36 on 4WS is either; right rear sensor, ABS control unit or 4WS control unit

So it's the right rear sensor.

And the ABS light being on from the start and the 4WS light coming on a short while after starting driving is classic rear ABS sensor fail.

Unplug the sensor while it's still bolted onto the arm and check the resistance across the pins (make sure you get the probes properly in contact with the pins because they're really difficult to get at because they're buried deep into the plastic housing).
