Hi guys,
I have a facelift 4th gen 2.2vtec which I am having stripped before it's weighed in. The car itself is in Milford Haven (about as far away from me as it can get!) but I have a mechanic friend of a friend who is willing to strip it and send down the parts to me in Bournemouth.
What I'm asking is what would be good parts to strip & keep for later possible replacements - or indeed to pass on to others in need?
Any tips on what to grab from seasoned Prelude breakers would be very helpful.
(Really big stuff like the entire engine is out - I have to rely on the kindness of someones car boot to get the stuff to me!)
I cant currently offer to sell anything as I can't get pics with my name in them at the moment, but I can ask for them to be taken - or take them myself once parts get to me - the only pics I have ATM are from the original ebay ad & some pics taken without my name in them.
Cheers
Doug
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

I remember seeing that one.
Ok well as a starter;
You'll definitely want the seats, door cards, centre section between the rear sets and full centre console with armrest pocket, gearshift and handbrake gaiter. That colour might not be to everyone's taste, but they're certainly unique and if done well, definitely have value.
Looks like it has EL dials? If so, get those, the invertor box that goes with them and the whole dash loom that attaches to them (I might be interested in the loom, to make it easier to install mine).
Get the alternator and cat (as they're new) and are you sure you can't get the engine? The clutch would have some value, if nothing else!
What gearbox does it have? M2B4 (LSD) gearboxes obviously have value.
If the front wings are good, get them and the front doors and bumpers (if good - which the paint does look to be actually?). Definitely the sunroof panel, if that isn't rusty.
Does it have electric folding mirrors? If so, get the mirrors, switch, relay from the passenger door and ideally the full door looms (if not at the very least make sure you get tails for the mirrors, plug and relay).
Facelift tweeter covers, headlights, front indicators with side reflectors (and wiring/relay if they're the corner lights - it's difficult to tell in those pics) and facelift nostrills - don't try to remove the nostrils individually (they'll break), take them out complete on the small plastic panel they attach to.
Looks to have after market stuck on front fogs, so they're no use really.
Oh, it has chrome front door interior handles too, people tend to like them, so get them complete with the surrounds.
Also have a look at my 'bits I want' link below to see if you can help with any of those bits please!

Strip everything that isn't broken!!!
FYI - I'd be interested in the seats if they were to go for a reasonable price. It looks like a UK car so I would also like the rear fog light switch (with pigtail) if available and possibly the front part of the centre console if it's not damaged.
Thanks Doug, feel free to PM me with any details if you can't turn this into an official 'for sale' thread

Thanks guys, great pointers. I'll start putting a shopping list together!
'fraid the engine will have to stay tho (although it couldn't be started anyway - duff oil sensor so I'm told) unless someone was willing to collect it..
I hadn't considered the gearbox (if its an LSD) - would it be small enough to be manhandled into the boot of a Seat Leon?
Although I would love to be able to grab some of the bigger bits (wings, doors etc), I only have a limited number of runs in the boot of a small car to play with - so I guess I have to be very choosy what I ask for.
Anyway, thanks for the reply's gents - @wurlycorner - I'll look through your list and PM you as soon as I'm able to get some pics and parts start arriving if you want mate.
@bb1boy - I have sent you a PM but as I don't have any pics with my name in ATM, and I don't want to break the selling rules, I would rather wait until I get some pics sorted before talking about the interior if that's OK.
Thanks again chaps
