Hi S2000 owners!
Anyone using the S2000 as a daily this winter?
I have my HT on but the OEM 16's need new tyres on the back so im still running the BBS.
Had my rust cut out on my passengers side, threw the rubber arch lip trims away and sealed/stonechipped the inside lip.
Keep that rust away!

Yep, I'm DDing the S2K through the winter. Running the OEM 16's ATM.

The garage I bought the car from put new tyres on the the back when I bought it which was nice, but they're terrible tyres so it's quickly become a PITA. If the Advans don't sell then I'll put them back on once winter has passed.

Passenger side rust. Was it where the sill runs into the rear arch?

I am. Its my daily driver and I have no garage or hardtop (yet). So regular snow shifting off the roof is on the cards...

I was wondering the same about the rubber lip covers. I want to throw mine away and protect seal them like I did on the lude...I can only ever see these as a water trap. As soon as they dont fit tight ( I can see a gap in a few places on mine) then water will get in...

From a non-S2k owner...

All for stone chip/decent undersealing arches etc but without those rubber trims, bear in mind there's no actual seal along the seam between the inner and outer arch panels.

That seam is just spot welded along (again assuming it's the same as ludes) so water gets drawn in between the spot welds (surface tension will draw it in,not let it run out).

The rubber trim (assuming it's the same as ludes) isn't just rubber, it has a bead of wet seam sealer pre-injected along the bottom of it, so that seals along the panel seam when you fit them. For that reason though, you shouldn't re-use them if you do remove - refit new.

I took them off and put some seam sealer into the gap between the inner and outer arch which is clearly seen once the trims are off. I then taped close to the edge of the arch and covered the car. 3 coats of black stone chip to protect the paint from chips.

Your right though. just whipping them off and driving away is not a good idea. The gap needs filled or moisture will have an easier way of getting in.

The original trims are clearly flawed. Mine were full of muck that had found its way right in in places. I believe mine had never been off before and the outer lip was flaking in a few places so they weren't doing the job. Same with most Hondas.

No it was around the top edge in front of the bumper mounting.
I have a few pics of the before spots and the piece removed by the bodyshop.

on the lude I sealed the gap between the spot welds with paint on dynax s50. this was on the flat of the lip and into the seam. dynax s50 was blown from the inside until it bled out of the seam first. I will look to do the same on s2k
