yea safe home mode as its known, pure ball ache but could save a car from exterme damage. moneys on the MAF as no car should be better with it disconnected.

Yeah that's what i think it is, will stick a new fuel filter on it as well

Bubbles in the feed line are completely normal btw ;)

Try a MAF and see if that makes a difference

My 110tdi Leon went a bit flat & developed flat spots when the MAF went belly up

I've replaced the fuel filter today and given the MAF a good cleaning. It's not made any difference

Need to replace some vacuum lines too as they have gone soft. No idea what sizes I need though

Or an air leak after the MAF, meaning it's reading incorrect figures to what the engine is actually getting?

That's true man, I know the car wouldn't run right with the wrong mixtures but I don't think it would throw it into safe mode?

Got Vagcom on on it and it gave the MAF as the fault

New one arrived this morning, fitted and it's cured the problem :D
