Ok yep, thats probably a fair point.

LO :D

Some guy made a good point on Yahoo news that the fine for being un-insured is only about £200  a lot less than it would cost to BE insured
Need to make the consequences of not being insured much harsher , min 2k fine to help lower car insurance costs to everyone else , if they can't afford it then they sell their car to pay it  they won't need it for a while

My 3 main driving pet-hates

1. Having cars so close behind me i can't read their number plate whilst i'm driving at the speed limit
2. Drivers who overtake on normal single lane roads then turn off straight afterwards
3. Drivers using their mobiles whilst driving.

Rant over ;)

Own the downside, this will give police the power to fine you for careless driving rather than having a judicial system determine that you in fact being careless.

So wheelspin out of a junction by giving it a few too many beans and you could see an instant fine.

Police decisions are often subjective and giving them the power to be the judge, jury and executioner at the roadside may not necessarily be a good thing.

Next thing you know they will be sub-contracting this work out to non-police bodies, just like mobile speed vans.

I was going down the bypass the other day, there was a car in the outside lane about half a mile ahead, nothing in the inside lane. I got behind it, stayed behind it with the inside lane still clear, gave a flash of my lights and then it moved over a little while after that. As I went past the female driver gave me the middle finger. Clearly, they thought it was normal to travel in the outside lane of a completely deserted bypass and that I was in the wrong. This forced me to slow down next to them, let some cars catch me up behind and box her in when there was eventually another car on the inside lane.

Yep, many morons on the road. I nearly saw a guy get ran over at a crossing on my way to work this morning, a silver astra was speeding over a roundabout, came up on a car too fast......had swerve into the outside lane nearly hitting us, went thru the red light at the crossing and a pedestrian had to dive back onto the pavement.

He would of 100% been killed at the speed the astra was going, called the police but it happened so fast we didn't get the reg.

Only last week I was stuck behind some muppet on the M27 in a Beemer crawling along at 95, no matter how close I got to him he wouldn't pull over.
I dropped my bloody phone in the end undertaking him..

If the fines go to employing more black rats(road traffic police) I have no problem.

Also remember a speed limit is just that, not a target 30mph in fine conditions OK, on sheet ice or thick fog, ludicrous.
