Which Credit Card?
So starting my new job on Monday and it's one where I'll be likely running up a fair amount of expenses (travelling/accomodation etc). They don't operate with purchasing cards unfortunately, so it'll be on my credit card and claiming back.
I don't expect to get any interest charges 'cause they pay expenses back weekly, but there will be a fair number of transactions and it strikes me I must be able to get some kind of benefit out of this? My current Credit Cards don't have any benefits, I just have them 'cause I do, sort of thing (one was zero interest for about a year and half or something when I took it out).
Anyone got any suggestions on what Credit Cards have good benefits??? A kind of points make prizes sort of thing I mean.
Cheers

Pretty sure the Tesco one gives you clubcard points.

They pretty much all give the same back, it just depends what you put it towards.
I looked into this in detail as I have a 'gold' card with my bank.......that gave me feck all.
Look at your biggest expenses over the year, what is it? Mine was all car - insurance, petrol, tax, mot, parking.
So I got the AA card. I get points on everything, so I buy everything with the card and pay it off each month. (better comebacks too in the event of fraud etc) BUT, I get double points back on anything car related (yes, even work at PAW
) and have had about £200 back over the course of a year. Just bought me a new HD camcorder with the winnings, and a few other bits and bobs here and there.
HTH
EDIT - Oh and you can choose how your redeem your point whenever you want - cashback, AA products, high street vouchers or 'days out' like track stuff etc

Whilst I wholeheartedly agree, it's also a way of building up your credit rating, they love people that 'borrow' but pay back, so it stands you in good stead for mortgages etc, you just have to be disciplined.craig_jdm wrote:I don't have a credit card that's how the corporations controls you dude bin it and live free from the shackles of the man

I've got a House of Fraser card that I use to buy most things and get points. I guess it depends how much you're going to be spending because you only get 1 point in most places, and I think you need 2000 points in any 3 months to get a £20 voucher. I put a lot of business purchases through it so it works out real nice. Plus you obviously need to have one near you. Maybe John Lewis do something similar?
Great for buying birthday presents or just for getting a nice bottle of spirit or two for free (and it tastes so much better when it's free)
This is assuming you'll always pay it off in full every month so you don't incur interest charges. I set up a DD to take the full amount every month so I don't forget and get stung.

The Mrs has the John Lewis Partnership card, again you get double points in JL and Waitrose (where we shop), so it made sense. She too got about 200 notes back over a year or so.
