Don't get me wrong, I think labour rates in garages are a rip off (same for plumbers and sparkies), but that is the going rate? (why I don't use them!

IMO the labour is a bit excessive. It should of been added into the labour for the front brakes. Example if you get 1hr to replace front discs and pads, then you get say an hour for both front calipers then you wouldn't charge 2hrs. I'd charge only half for the calipers as half the jobs done anyway. So would be 1.5hr job. Thats how the FRT is worked out at our place. As for the calipers if they are Japanese calipers (nissin i think) then they can be rebuilt for around 50-60 a side.

But then you do need to add in the labour time for bleeding the system so I suppose it is fair. Lesson for the future get it all quoted first

I did ask how much it would cost, the guy said 120 for service and maybe 30 quid for the calipers
