Really does body lemonade me off... (concorde thread)

I'm not a plane man. There's pretty much only 3 that interest me really;
A Spitfire sounds good and is obviously very cool
The Vulan is really amazing to see (and hear) fly and a fantastic achievement and dedication to get back in the air (and keep there)
...and the other one is of course, Concorde. Amazing piece of engineering and looked gorgeous too.

Can't believe it's been 10 years :(

There is no reason why it couldn't fly again, none at all, except for money (which I have no doubt would be found) and pig headedness. Really really does body lemonade me off the way that BA refuse to allow anyone to get one flying again, just purely because they think they would lose face.

Far from egg on face, it would be a great PA bost for them (and they need it, because everyone knows they're bastards, surpassed only by O'Leary at Ryanair! ).

Roll on Willie Walsh being ousted or retiring, then there might be a chance.

Chance of it crashing and killing a few rich toffs is too high mate. not worth it for the neg publicity.

Concorde is a nice piece of archiotech from the days when the west had a strong and vibrant future infront of it. Too costly and too noisy for todays hardline cost efficiency reality.
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

 not to operate as a commercial airliner, for air shows etc, like Vulcan...

Lest anyone should think naivety btw, my comments not based on that single article but on following with some interest since the crash in France.

I went on the tour of the one at Filton a few years ago, just before they stopped doing the tours (they were closing for the winter to perform "vital maintenence" and it's never re-opened  )

The tours were run by volunteers, most of whom worked on Concorde when it was being built, so they had the best knowledge of the aircraft.

Our guide told us, essentially to get her flying again, all they need do is put fuel in it and off it goes. They are still in "working" condition. Sure they will need to service every component and get air worthiness certificates etc, but there is very little to do to get them flying again.

Refit the fuel computer that Ba removed from all of them and holds onto to stop anyone doing as much

From another forum I belong to. If you like aviation I recommend it.

I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Holy thread revival! :o

But just found this on you tube, in cockpit talkthrough of take off from JFK.

Certainly was quite a bit to flying one of those things!

This is the one at Airbus Filton.

I'm currently contacting there. The actual plane has been pillaged of its goods and insides to be put into a "mock" plane that will be used in their museum that is waiting to be built. Along with hundreds of other very interesting "heritage" items lol including some great photos of us shooting down German planes.

The reason the tours closed is because an old man fell down the gap between stairs and the plane. Sadly he died so it was shut and left to rust, and rust heavily.
It's a real shame.

the takeoff procedure is *NEARLY* as complicated as the prelude 4ws reset procedure!
