wurlycorner wrote: :think: Why do you think you need a dti to refit the crank? Is there anything different to other engines I've worked on, where you just place the plain bearing shells into the housings, drop the crank in, refit the cap and bolt down - there's nothing that can be adjusted.
Or are you meaning to check the current roundness of the crank journals?
found out why the dti guage was mentioned for re-fitting the crank. Because we never saw this engine running, so don't know if there was any bottom end knock or something similar, when you put the crank back in, they say to check the end play as referred to here by the manual :)

I need to also ask someone who has fitted atr pistons here or on the atr forum about those oil holes, thanks for your help so far wurly :)

Ah gotcha - yep. But if you're changing the bottom end bearings anyway though (which unless they're really horrendously expensive I just would as a matter of course when you have the engine fully stripped) then the end float should be fine?

First engine I rebuilt I was anal (no surprise?) and measured absolutely everything up with a mic/vernier and recorded it on specially drawn up inspection sheets :ugeek:
:? I will no doubt still have the sheets somewhere :facepalm:
Pretty sure I didn't bother checking end-float though, because I knew all the journals were in spec from the measurement and the bearings were new, so there was no way the float could be out.

I still have that engine (and car :roll: ). I think I managed about 15k in it before some gentleman's sausage drove into the car on a roundabout and wrote it off :evil:

gutted mate :( hate it when that happens

Ive been looking at my Throttle bodies and all 3 of my h22 p13 ones are 62mm in diameter and not 60mm as that's what I was under the impression they were, and atr pde ones were 62mm :?

yet these pics say different, the one attached to the h22 p13 inlet mani;

the second one I had lying around;

and the one on my car is the same.

the one I attached to my atr pde inlet mani is 66mm :shock: so im either getting the wrong end of the stick somewhere or I have an uprated tb on it already;
Image

Image
I will be checking and comparing to my mates atr pde tb asap.

at the same time I was having a rummage around the boxes I had with the engine parts that were given to me and also found this :D
Image
a lightened crank pully :twisted: wohoo!!

also found these;
Image
JCMC valve set - don't think their anything special though, seem like an Australian manufacturer

and also these;
Image
looks like someone has done some DIY Solid Polyurethane engine mounts

and had a bit of a tidy in the garage as the floor was a tip of parts :?
Image

the replacement piston bearings and rings have been ordered but 12 tune say there will be a delay for a few weeks while they get them in. also need to get my arse in gear and find crank bearings as im struggling with these. the manual says to match the bearing ref number on the block here
Image

to the manual's chart here
Image
and deciphering it is confusing :? :oops:

is it not the diameter at the butterfly that counts?

Bingo. The inlet side usually tapers in. Measure the outlet side that goes into the inlet manifold.
