I've had a look round online and struggled to find anywhere that sells them. I didn't get as far as ringing a local supplier that I've bought engine bearings from for other cars though, cause I'm not actually after them yet. I assumed the usual suppliers like ae would make them after-market, but maybe not?

@Drax ?

It's got to be from honda buy the sounds of it. They colour code each bearing according to size to be used, after market bearings are just one size and not tailer fitted like they should be.

I don't understand why the crank on an h22 would be so non-uniform in comparison to other cars, really surprising. Also surprised if after market don't support that, because it's common to sell different sized bearings (same as piston rings for example) to account for varying wear between old engines and manufacturing tolerances, so what's the difference? :?

It's a very fine tolerance about 0.005mm I've seen difference so far. It's most likely not goin to make any difference.

Most manufacturers seem to use about 3 sizes to allow for re grinds but not so much to the extent of honda do it.

Thanks merlin, looks like just a full bearing kit could cost over £200 then. Glad I'm not paying lol

:( That's quite pricey for a set of main bearings. But could be worse given they're OEM parts I suppose...

Don't think I paid that much when I had my H22 rebuild, will dig out the receipt later and check. IIRC there are different size bearings available through Hondas tight engineering tolerances...

Honda told me to get the bearing colour code and come back to them. once i have them off i will go back for a quote.

ive been given a direct number for Racing XS (07814 495106), recommended by a mate who has done several Honda engine rebuilds and he says they only require your exact block model, e.g. h22, h22a4 etc.

let me know how you get on pete.

Yeah will do buddy, that sounds pretty easy if they just need a chassi number and colours off the bearings, that reminds me... Where are they marked with these colours?
