Industrial Britain

Post by wurlycorner » Fri Jan 03, 2014 3:19 pm

Came across this site today that if you're fascinated by old industrial sites like me (I have factories in the blood) you'll probably enjoy. (It's a bit better presented than 28 days later, although less content)

Personally I think this pic (can't link directly to it to show in the thread unfortunately) absolutely epitomises classic Industrial Britain! :D

There's a forum somewhere where people post pics of abandoned places they've explored. I'll try find it later. IIRC it was linked to when that RAF base was up for sale recently.

EDIT: http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/ ;)

Yep, I am aware of that forum.

I might even be aware of some of its featured sites...

Awesome, I'm a bit of an urban explorer myself. I went to an abandoned hospital last summer
Al tough it isn't industrial you might find it interesting if you like the above :)

So here are a few of the pics (hope they show since it's the first time I'm using flickr)

*EDIT
Inserted the pics with photobucket now

The abondoned part of Hellingly mental hospital used to be good fun to have an explore in, especially when you and your mates were 17 and you'd just got your licence ;) Shame they knocked it flat recently, it was an amazing structure. jobby scary going around it in the dark though

They have a thread of the old DRI (Derby Royal Infirmary) hospital, brings back memories. That hospital has the longest corridor you'll probably ever see.

My mate is a firearms police officer and they sometimes train in the old hospital, he says its mega creepy. There's still blood in places, beds, tables, basic equipment etc... He says because the electrics are fooked, the bed alarms sometimes randomly go off, and you just here it from a few wards away.
