Type S MPH conversion

Post by Mudgey » Mon Jan 06, 2014 11:03 pm

Hello,

I am in discussions with a company who make custom dials and I am getting some OEM looking dial fascias made to my own specification, one of these is a mph face for the 5th Gen Type S, I personally don't want a speedo that reads to 190mph and prefer the greater amount of angular dial movement per mph, therefore I am quite happy with it only reading up to 120mph or thereabouts.

Not sure on prices as of yet but is this something another Type S owner would be interested in?

...on a private, closed road, right?!

@Mudgey, will you not need to re-calibrate the speedo needle to move in the specific incriments that you require? Otherwise you'll just have Top Gear's Rover James!

Hah, no I won't have to recalibrate it as all I am doing in replacing the fascia plate and not changing how high the speedo reads up to. The speed per angular movement of the needle will remain the same. I don't drive over 120mph so am not bothered if it won't read 180mph!!

So what will you do with all the blank space after the 120 mark?

(excuse the poor digital editing   )

190kph is around 120 so it would still use the full dial just have 120 at the end not 190. I'd have a guy interested if it went up to around the 160 mark?
