Time to revive things here!

I've been tackling my wet boot situation today. I've not had a go at clearing the sunroof drain pipes before, so here's a few photos I took as I worked.

First thing to do is strip the boot liners out and remove the rear lights and bumper. Once this is done you have access to the bladder/grommet thingys, which look like this for anyone who hasn't seen them (I never noticed them until I actually looked for them today!)

inside:

Outside:

I disconnected the drain hose from them on each side, then removed them from the car body. Grab hold of them on the inside of the car with one hand, and then prod them through from the outside with your spare hand. Access is a muffin on the offside due to the retracting aerial, but it is doable.

Once they're out, admire them in all their glory

Before looking at the amount of bum droppings inside :?

Most of the guides I read said to clean them out with an air line or some kind of rod, I have neither so I just pulled them over the nozzle of the kitchen tap and ran water through them. They were really blocked, the first time I tried the water just sprayed out backwards! Once they cleared out water flowed freely however.

Image

After they were clean, I just pushed them back into their holes from the inside of the boot (again, very tricky on the offside, but persistence paid off). Once they were back in place, I just pushed the hoses back in snug. Job done :)

Now to wait for more rain

Next job to tackle is the rear light gaskets, looking at them I'm fairly certain that they are also contributing to my water problem

Once this car is dry, then there's only 4 more to go and I'm done

It's turned up from some random I met, turns out he used to do a lot of motor swaps and has a shipping container full of engines on his land  I've been up and viewed the engine, turns out it's the H22A from a Prelude SiR, not an Accord Euro-R  So it's a 197bhp LSD lump if I'm not wrong. I've been due to pick it up for a while, I keep putting it off though as my Dad wants me to do the belts on one of his MX5's first before he'll lend me his 4x4 and trailer, and I really don't want to work on the MX5 at the moment  He cornered me at our Christmas eve meal though, so I think we'll be getting everything sorted next week 8-)

Update time :o

I have finally puled my finger out and sourced some parts! I got a pair of rear callipers and a CV boot recently so I will hopefully get these fitted over the next couple of days. My new handbrake cable is still kicking around the house so I will be throwing that on as well if I feel motivated enough (unlikely  ).

I also had a bit of a result getting insurance too :D I've been quoted just over £300 for the year on my multi-car policy with Admiral, so the Prelude will be joining on to the policy come the start of feb. I'm well chuffed with that price, considering the car is an import, I'm 23, I declared the 'mods' (ugly alloys  ) and the car will be used for commuting/driving at peak times. They mirrored my 3 years NCB which is pretty cool, but it now means I've got a set of NCB I'm not using and must use by next may  At any rate I'm a happy boy and I now have an incentive to get the car running again :)

If not, il have to get in touch with the custom tuning GOD that came to work the other day in his amazingly modified VTS (on steels )

@Rob_Cool1 sorry for the slow reply mate!! The eBay tube doesn't fit the bay of a 2nd gen unfortunately, the curves aren't quite right for all the junk that's jammed in there. Saying that you don't have all the ALB turd, so maybe it would fit yours. From memory I think it doesn't have enough fittings for all the hoses though, the 2nd gen has 2 hoses joining the inlet tuning and the BB4 only has one methinks :?

Haha that VTS induction kit is a mega fail  I hope you gave that kid some stick!!

Small amount of progress made today. I finally fitted the new slide pins that I had sat around staring at me. Tbh the pins on the holder were fine anyway but I have lost the bolts that fit them  Buying a new set was the easiest way to get new bolts. Anyway, here's some shiny new slide pins:

Image

Once they were in I slapped on the calliper I bought off of Tim

Bit of a confused colour scheme going on there  I'll sort it out at some point, but there's bigger fish to fry currently. Next up was the handbrake cable. I've removed all the nuts/bolts bar 2, which I need to drop the exhaust and heatshield to access. I started to attempt this, realised what a ball ache it was going to be and promptyly came back inside. Maybe another day...
