Re: BB4 Koyo Racing Rad fitted

Post by vanzep » Sun Jun 22, 2014 12:53 pm

Thanks guys :)
It had better work - ive had some cooling issues in slow moving town traffic for a while now and although there has been some improvement made in the last year or so it has been a real niggle. Ive got to bear in mind that it is a high mileage engine that has had no real work done on it.
so now its onto brakes (again!) got an intermittent brake fade issue which is proving difficult to pin down so i will be fitting a new brake master cylinder sometime soon. It always work in progress when you own a 4th gen

Re: BB4 Wheels n Tyres

Post by vanzep » Fri Jun 27, 2014 6:57 pm

cheers mart :)
The new rad is brilliant - very happy with it and even after a run you can touch the top of the rad without getting burnt - it does hold a load of coolant ;)

Next up is MOT time on Thursday at my new favourite garage :)
Its a little bit out the way but well worth making the effort....
Also getting an engine flush and new oil and hamp filter and some new uniroyal rainsport 3's fitted to my PIAA wheels. I was originally going to go with Toyo T1R or Falken or Khumo but with a little help from Steve i was able to get the new Rainsports at a cracking price.
i am mega excited - roll on Thursday :P

Back to the wheels and Ive sourced some new centre caps and put some cf inserts in them Also bought some new closed end wheel bolts thanks for the link @gayno. Heres a couple of pics before i polish them and the uniroyals go on.

I will be keeping my 2 original PIAA centre caps under lock and key.

I have also derusted and painted both rear arches - looks brilliant on one side and very, very bad on the other side - so i guess i will have to wet sand it back and start again  Here is a pic from above so hopefully you wont see the badly painted bit(s)

I really do think that bonnet looks brilliant with that lip (with the lip and bonnet vent picked out in black)

Re: BB4 MOT & Compression test & rainsport 3's

Post by vanzep » Thu Jul 03, 2014 7:28 pm

cheers guys :)

First up was MOT.
Ok so ive had the lude a long time - pretty soon it will be into year 15 in my ownership.
So todays MOT was the 13th test ive had to put it through :scaredtoss:
Good news it passed with flying colours - even showing a slight increase in braking performance and a big decrease in the emissions test.
So it does kinda back up what ive been saying that the lude is getting better

Second was Compression test.
Results from previous test i did myself in December 2012
cylinder 1 - 13,1
cylinder 2 - 13.0
cylinder 3 - 13.3
cylinder 4 - 13.0

Results before engine flush, oil and filter change.

cylinder 1 - 210
cylinder 2 - 215
cylinder 3 - 205
cylinder 4 - 210

Results after engine flush, oil and filter change.

cylinder 1 - 220
cylinder 2 - 215
cylinder 3 - 215
cylinder 4 - 210

I havent really looked into the figures much but on first glance they dont look too bad at all :)

Got a full set of new rainsport 3's onto my PIAA and theyre back on the car - what difference compared to the conti TS850 winter tyres i was running :o
its nice to have some shark skin technology keeping me on the road :?

Id swear the lude has a smile on its face :)
