The car is extremely quick and he obviously knows the circuit, but I think someone that drives with only one hand on the wheel and the other on the gearstick for significant amounts of time, when there's no reason to, is quite likely to have a very big off one day... Especially when big arch rub at those speeds could equal shredded tyre?!

I think he is clearly driving within the the limits of himself and the car. Both capable of going much faster

If it's 9 something then it's not that fast for sure, considering the leon and megane breaking under 8 in FWD.

Oh just read there's traffic.
Not that much. No one really holds him up too long. Looks faster than it is IMO.

Definitely a driver and he is driving safe... He could Easily push that car much harder and he gets held up a few times when he should be really chucking it into the corners... Even more dangerous as he is without hardtop.... He def knows the track tho as he knows when to lay the power down..... I hate the s2g personally, I'd rather go round there in a cammed up Lude

Nice! That s2k would be capable of a much faster time under more controlled circumstances with a skilled driver

He has the back end step out on him at least twice in that video so is he quite driving within the limits?

The biggest reason I think it's wankerish driving round with only one hand on the wheel though, is because even regardless of what his and his cars (actual) limits are, he has no idea what someone else around him will do. He might think someone has reacted and seen him dive up the inside of a corner, but they might suddenly turn in on him, or he might hit a patch of oil mid-corner and the back end go round etc. With only one hand on the wheel, he's already at a 50% disadvantage to correcting anything. Don't see many rally or BTCC drivers et al driving one handed? They only take their hands off the wheel when changing gear then put them straight back on. I doubt they're doing it wrong?

But I have never been on the ring, so I might well have that gentleman's sausage eyed of course.

Can I surmise RL, that the quoted reference, as I've observed you using from time to time, is an intentional play on said vehicle's good name rather than a typo? If so
Hah....Nooooooo... Honestly, I've always called it s2g.... It's the Urban name :D
Tho I do think its a disappointing drive..pants handling....scared of sticking it in a hedge or worse...lol

Nvr really loved it, missus had it for 2 years..she preferred my type S...

I wasn't condoning the use of only one hand on the wheel

I was merely pointing out that the car was capable of lapping much faster, and the driver was probably feeling confident as he was only driving at say 80% max. Plus there is certainly some showboating for the camera.

The fact that none are wearing helmets would lead me to suspect he wasn't really going for it!
