Oil stick under minimum !!!

Post by Andrei2j » Sat Jul 12, 2014 2:36 pm

Lude 5th gen bb5 2.0 non VTEC .
After 3 months of my oil change yesterday I decided to check the oil level ... To discover that its under minimum !!!

There are no leaks ,some "normal"? oil traces around rocker cover .
What's worrying me is that there we're no lights on to show me that is smth wrong ...
What to do now ?!?

The oil has to be really low before the light starts flickering, but losing that much oil in 3 months isn't good, and if it was coming from the cam cover it would be alot more noticeable than traces, I imagine it would spread around the bay alot more :?:

However oil leaking from the cam cover isn't normal, the seal should be completely tight so no oil comes out.

Have a look down the back of the block and also the back of the sump, pretty common leaky places those.

Could be because the light has nothing to do with oil level, its for oil pressure and normally by time it comes on due to low oil level the engines had it.

Yep, check the back/bottom of the engine to see if the oil cooler seal is leaking...
