Nope. Depends on the offense.

When I got caught they purposefully got me in a speed trap knowing peaople speed because it's an open road. I got pulled with 6 other cars at once and we all got offered course instantly on the spot. At this point I already had 3 points.

The copper was brilliant actually. Told me what I did wrong straight but didn't talk down to me.

Oh ok. Stand corrected. Yea i play the mpg game in my partners Jazz. 62mpg on the way down the m1 :shock: Thing is wicked at it :D 8-)

I can only get 51mpg and I really try lol, they really are jobby cars :lol:

I think most county's police offer the course regardless of points. The criteria is usually that the speeding offense was marginal rather than excessive, and that you haven't done the course in that county within the last 2 or 3 years (can't remember which). I found the course quite useful when I did it a couple of years ago. Not necessarily regarding speed awareness, but picked up a couple of driving tips. The cost was certainly cheaper than the 10% loading on my insurance, for 3 years, that 3 points would have given me.
