Replacing Rear Engine Mount?

I think my vibration issue maybe coming from the rear engine mount, looks a massive ball ache to change.

Has anyone done it?

If it's the same as on a 4th gen, yes it's a git - mainly because access is a complete arse. It is do-able though. You need to be able to raise/lower the engine slightly at various stages from what I can remember, in order to get bolts out etc.

Its not actually that bad to do, patience, drugs and tea are ths key. Its simple enough just frustrating. Give yourself a few hours then you can have plenty of breaks and have time for autoglass to change your windscreen after you've thrown a rathet handle through it

Not to bad, 4 bolts and various size rachet extensions will be the key.

It isn't that bad IMO. A bit tight for tool space that is worst part. Take the intake off as that will give you loads more room.

That's what I had to do years ago, as the bolts were so siezed, I could not get the leverage otherwise. I spilt the intake at the IAB's which gave enough room.

I meant the intake pipe not the intake manifold

That must have been a right bummer if you had to take the IM off to sort out the rear mount.

On my 4th it is really easy to get to the rear mount since I don't have the EVAP system or any other crap in the way. On my 5th it is a different story

I'm thinking slapping my trolley jack under the back of the engine to take the weight once the mount is off, and also to be able to raise the engine slightly.

TBH I would be surprised if you actually need to raise the engine at all, maybe to get the big centre bolt back in. The weight of the engine will be perfectly fine on the other 3 mounts. It wont do any harm having the jack there though
