Does it not affect the tachometer? (in the same way that if you put a non-TCS ECU in a TCS car, the tacho doesn't work unless you modify the wiring?)

im pretty sure this is the case, plus you don't get any working rev counter either as when I bought a P72 I had to rewire 1 cable for it to work in my 4 plug ecu loom

It was a 4 plug original Spoon ECU, connected to a car that was formerly an automatic but had been converted to a manual.

im pretty sure standard p13's, most Spoon Ecu's etc. are 3 plug. mine was originally an auto as well, converted to a manual.

no probs mate, i will test it on a mates 4g jdm lude tomorrow to double check it works and then PM you details for payment and you can reply with a postal address :)
