track car miss fireing (help please)

Post by spudep91 » Mon Sep 15, 2014 10:51 am

We were at are track day yesterday and were having a great day (will get videos up later in the week for use. Some good stuff in them) then near the end of the day the car started missing up the rev range, around vtec land. So thought mybe leads or plugs so swapped the leads as I broke one of the leads trying to get it out of the dizzy as it was well stuck. So other leads on! went out a blast and half way round it starts again. then starts to miss fire from low reves to. Then messed about with it again looking for the problem with no joy. My m8 then pulled out the sensor on the behind tb went for a blast got a lap or 2 and it just starts again. Any ideas of what it could be. Ps. You get no vtec when it starts missing.

Yea check the dizz and cleaned the points and the rotor. Changed leads ( to are old set but worked fine before we put the nolegey ones in) put plugs in to but swapped them back to the old ones as never had a feller gauge to check the size of the gap. After doing the above it still the same

If you are positive everything is ok with the electrics you could check the injectors. Do you know what cylinder is not firing properly?

the most common ones I see to fix this kind of problem are to change your dizzy for a working one and then check your valve clearances 8-)

I would also suggest the ignitor is giving up inside the dizzy. Usually this gives out a misfire /random firing.

:!:
Good call on the fuel...
Was it only when hacking it round the track, or also when stationary?
