Welcome in Paul :)

Don't worry, we won't blame you for Margaret Thatcher.

Good luck. Sure you'll find a good 'un :)

5th gen info - http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/honda-p ... -t720.html

There isnt one for the 4th gen. But it goes roughly like this:

BB1 = 4WS and most (if not all) of the extras such as ABS, cruise control, sunroof. BB1's can be both UK and JDM cars with the UK car having the 185bhp H22a2 with the M2F5 gearbox. The JDM car has the 197bhp H22a engine with either the M2A4 or M2B4 lsd gearbox. There is quite a difference between the gearboxes as the ratios for UK and JDM boxes are different as well as their final drive ratio's. In stock form the JDM boxes will allow the car to accelerate slightly quicker, even more so with 10bhp+ over the UK engine. I wouldn't get too exited over the prospect of the M2B4 LSD gearbox, yes it is an LSD but its a viscous LSD.

BB4 = 2WS and normally comes in poverty spec ie. no ABS, cruise control, sunroof and other jazz. BB4's are JDM only and come with the 197bhp H22a and either the M2A4 or M2B4 lsd gearbox.

There are pre and post facelift versions of the 4th gens. I think someone else better explain their years and differences.

With JDM cars your should be putting in a minimum of 97RON fuel whereas the UK engine can use 95RON.

IMO for track use the BB4 is a good base to start, but it all depends on how much money you want to throw at it and if it will be used on the road at all.

Prefacelift BB4 92-94
Facelift BB4 94-96
Differences were cosmetic ie/clear front indicators. two slat nostril vent, interior fabric, centre console and some switches in cabin moved.
As far as i am aware BB4's as standard dont have airbags but you could have this fitted in facelift model as an option
1996-2000 1993 EG9 Blue Civic 1.6 Vti - Traded in against the BB4
2000-2019 1994 2WS BB4 Milano Red JDM Prelude Si VTEC LSD

2015 on > 1991 4WS BB1 Phantom Pearl Grey JDM Prelude Si VTEC LSD
2021 ON > 1998 2WS BB6 White Pearl JDM Prelude Si VTEC

Thanks for all the info so far folks!
Do the Preludes share components with Civics and Accords or is everything "bespoke" to the lude?

yeah mostly bespoke the lude has always been pretty much purpose built as a coupe whereas the civics and accords are a compromise between the different models in the range

I should be going to see the other guys going in on the car tonight so a prelude discussion should be underway! Fingers crossed everyone agrees!
