I would definitely err on the side of caution and go 60°C as a min. Anything up to around 50 is ideal for Legionella spp.. You'd be unfortunate to get legionnellosis though given your age/fitness.

@sailor: that is a very good point and pretty much the main reason I intend to remove the internal lpg boiler and replace it with an electric tank outsuide underneath in the space the diesel heater is mounted at the moment.

I did consider using the diesel heater to run a calorifier but again, lots of messing about fitting it and such. I dont have the confidence or experience to approach it correctly.
