4th Gen JDM Windows Switch / Door Lock with Plug & Tail

Post by arif_manji » Tue Jun 23, 2015 8:14 am

HI Guys,

I want to fit a JDM Windows Switch and Door Lock trim to my UK spec Prelude. I also need the plug and tail so I can fit it to my UK spec Prelude.

As pictured:

Let me know if you have one.

Cheers

I have one of those.
 not sure about the tail though.
It's only the tail for the 'lock' switch that you'll need.
BTW, you do know there are different 'patterns' (texture) to the plastic on these, right? (not based on UKDM/JDM, it seems to be a bit random)
I just mention that because you may find you pick up one for the drivers door only and it doesn't match your passenger door and looks 'odd'.

Can you take a pic of your existing one?

I drokking hate it when breakers write on the stuff they're selling with Tipp-Ex, especially interior trim parts!

Does this button just lock the doors? Have any of you guys fitted this to a UK lude with a bit of modification to the central locking unit?

Yes, it just locks the doors, nothing more (everything else is already locked!).

I think (been a while since I was inside the door of my ukdm so can't remember for sure) as well as altering the wiring, you would also need to change the drivers door lock - standard ukdm one doesn't have the solenoid built in, IIRC.

In that case I'll leave it as it is, cheers for the advise Iain.

It's not that big a job though, tbh. Just depends how much you want it.
I always looked at it that I wasn't worth the effort - if you want to lock both doors, all you have to do is pull the lock lever, which is right next to where the new lock switch is
