Yes, great point there by Merlin
So you will need to fit a knock sensor to the A2 (
I assume the mounting point is there on the block of an A2?)
does an H23 have a knock sensor? If not, I'm not sure whether the wiring for the knock sensor will already be there on your car or whether that's another thing that will need to be added.

Still, the H22a2 does not have a knock sensor either.
I checked on google, few people are saying that the H23A has a knock sensor? Anyone here can confirm this?wurlycorner wrote:Yes, great point there by Merlin![]()

Just to update you guys, I'm having the complete engine swapped apart from the gearbox, that will remain automatic. I have a donor UK manual car that has the complete engine and loom.

I ran my old H22a2 off a JDM ECU and the car ran fine and made good power, but it was a SPOON P13 ECU so I do not know if that made any difference. Ammo broke a knock sensor once and he said that his car was majorly down on power as a result, he may have been using a stock ECU though.
Even if the engine does run fine you will have a constant CEL on the dash. Not only is it annoying but it will hide any other issue.
