I'm sure one of the Scoobies will sort that out for you. Is gear oil and bits of diff acceptable?

Just skimming through the thread, (still new here and working my way through profiles), and just wanted to comment:

The racing Lude looks stunning, it looks like it seriously belongs on the track, I'd say some racing versions of road cars never really look the part, but, your own Lude is just, WOW!

Serioulsy admire the work you've put into this, and the end result speaks volumes.

Many thanks it has been nearly 6 years of working on it.

The size of the competition in SLS has exploded this year with 70 odd cars involved. Class F is probably the busiest with 16 cars at the moment. There are also quite a few cars in F with the same power/weight as me:

This thread has now been viewed more than 100,000 times

When the car was on the scales it was weighed with me in it, as well as without me just for interests sake. With me it was 1220kg and without it was 1149kg. The car has 60kg of cage in it so the basic weight of the car is 1089kg 8-)

You can see that I really need the car corner weighted :(

 what I find puzzling is why the left rear is higher than the right rear... you sit over to the right, so it should be heavier on the right, front and rear?

Yes I do. A set of MeisterR GT1's. It would be nice to corner weight the car. When installing them I was only going on how close to the wheel arch the tyre was.

Before round 1 I fitted new front brakes. MTEC replacement 330 x 32mm discs, a KSport 24 bolt fitting kit, a set of Carbotech XP8 pads made for me that week and some new Motul RBF 600.

The heat crack on the surface on the old discs that was giving me bad judder. They lasted two years.

Super Lap Scotland 2016 Round 1 - He's Dead Jim!

Post by Merlin » Mon Apr 18, 2016 9:23 pm

Super Lap Scotland 2016 Round 1

Direction - Clockwise
Conditions - Very cold with occasional showers

Image

Super Lap Scotland 2016 saw a big jump in the amount of entries with round 1 having 61 cars. There is also a small change in the format, instead of 4 hot laps for qualifying it is now a 15 minute open pit session where you get to go out and have multiple attempts to set a good lap with 15-20 other cars on track at the same time.

Image

I used the warm up session to further bed my brakes in so set no hot laps. I did notice that oil pressure looked a bit on the low side but dismissed it as it being hot and thinning.

In the practice session I was beginning to build my lap, finding my braking zones with the new brakes and tyres, things were going ok but the clutch started to slip occasionally and I didn't quite think the engine was pulling as well. I posted a 62.8 which placed me 4th in class.

In qualifying I went out and the loss of power was more noticeable and the clutch slip was bad, but I managed to push and scrape a 63.2. At the end the engine would stall when the clutch was in and there was a rattle at 3.5K rpm

Knowing the inevitable and the damage to the engine that has already been done I wanted to go out and try the final round. I thought that I might be able to finish 5th or something and get some points. Nope  the engine properly gave out at the beginning of my hot lap. I barley limped round and it finally, finally gave out just leaving the pits going back to the paddock.

The biggest thing that annoys me is that my camera didn't record any of the days sessions :suicide: It would have been an entertaining vid. Sounded like a a cement mixer with gravel and a few bricks in it. The second annoying thing was that the winning time in the class in the final was a 62.5, with a working engine I think I would have had that :x

So one dead engine and another one will need to be installed and working in 3.5 weeks time.
