Ahh I get what you mean. The battery negative goes straight to the bolting point on the gearbox if I remember correct.Vtecmec wrote:I think the problem may be that the fuses may not even come into play, as components may well have been given a live feed from the body, with the fuses sitting after the component.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Fuses would come into play, because the electrical path is exactly the same, it's just in reverse (so instead of out through the fuses, it would return through the fuses) so they are worth checking because if the circuits include diodes they might be circuits that are normally 'blocked' but would be a short when the current has been reversed (so the fuse would then blow).
The concern is that unless there are blocking diodes on the negative path side of the electric components, the electronics might have been given a shock up their jacksy that they don't like.
Check the fuses first and go from there.
What happens when the ignition key is turned on? Are there any lights at all, or is everything completely dead?
Do simple things like the headlights work etc? If they don't, it's something very simple like a main fuse or melted wire, because those circuits won't give a toss which way the current has been flowing.

first thing i would do is check all the fuses with a multimeter not just a visual check as many have been caught out that way , i am with wurlycorner some idea of whats going on would be a good help, cause some circuits must be working as lights and motors work both ways
success is the ability to go from one failure to the next without any loss of enthusiasm

It blew the 100 amp main fuse under the bonnet (as mentioned in an earlier post), I replaced the fuse and nothing was damaged other than my pants & pride...
he's swapped the 100A battery fuse (he checked all other fuses and they were fine) and is now back to where it's at previously... struggling to start lol which is where he was at before taking the battery out and getting it tested.
im heading over saturday night to him to swap parts from mine onto his like main relay, dizzy etc so ill let you know how i get on as im guessing its probably dizzy.
