Nope, you're not disagreeing

- that is what I'm saying. You will sell a manual more easily/quickly, because there will be more people out there looking for a manual.

Pricing an auto at less than a manual won't make anyone that is looking for a manual, buy an auto instead.
If they want a manual, they want a manual. If they want an auto, they want an auto. Ergo, the car is worth what it is worth, based on condition, not which box is in it.

The auto box swap is a no no, got some quotes today and they want £1600. No chance.
So I need a manual gearbox possibly a donor car or another car altogether....

Is it not worth trying the alternator change first?
And box fluid etc?

I think that would be my starting point (cheaper/easier)

If not, you have pm.

Thanks for the pm. Don't mean to sound dumb but why would the alternator make a difference to the gearbox?

I have also had the D4 light continuously flash on me a couple of times when driving.

vtecmec mentioned in his post how it might be screwing up all sorts of electrickery based stuff on the car.

Isnt the box controlled by an/the ecu? If you have some funky lecky shizzle going in it maybe be having an effect.

Did the 2 issue raise their ugly heads at the same time?

It was over a couple of weeks but the cars not used daily and had been off the road for 18 months. I will replace the alternator and fluid and go from there.

Finally got round to changing the alternator tonight and all the warning lights have gone out. 4ws & touch screen heater controls are working again :-D

But the 4th gear and reverse gear issues are still there. :( Going to try changing a speed sensor as I have read that could cause the issue as well. But I could just be kidding my self and on the road to an auto to manual swap.

Do the swap, do the swap..

I think the best option is to buy a donor car, take all the parts you need for the swap and then sell/break what's left..
