Hehehe - you obv. don't know me that well - I can break anything (and usually do)

A mate of mine who's helping me (WAY more experience than me, and he's teaching me as I work on my cars) had a look and all looks in order (currently only checked visually, I will admit) - he also suspects the relay. The relay does 'smell fused' as well (though I've never smelt it before now, so maybe it always smelt like that  )

Still - got a very air price for the replacement relay from vanzep, so it's not a big issue if it turns out not to be the relay. Plus, swapping the relay is real easy, so may as well do the easier checks first, before I start digging around under the dash again (very tight mess under there thanks to the £$%£$% that installed the alarm/immobilizer).

wurlycorner and firstlude - due to being told by the courier that my replacement relay would only arrive Monday, I decided to take your advice, and went and checked EVERY fuse (not just those that seemed to be linked to ignition). I found a 10A fuse, labelled 'Back Up' (fuse location number 4) which was blown. I replaced this, checked all other fuses in the interior fusebox, put my relay back, and she started !!

Came home and waiting for me at home is my replacement, re-soldered relay from vanzep... Delivered just half an hour after I left this morning

All my tools etc. are at the barn / workshop, and I don't like working on the cae on the side of the street where I live, so I'll replace the relay tomorrow - even though existing one is fine, may as well replace it with a recently re-soldered one.

good news glad she is up and running now , i always check all the fuses now when i have an electrical issues after much time wasted checking and replacing things that werent faulty only to find it was a fuse that you wound not think to check , just checked the workshop manual and if its fuse 4 in the under dash fuse box this does the PGM-fi main relay so yes with this blown it wont start
