That's exactly how my previous Prelude (1997 H22A5) was setup. However, in my current Prelude with Clifford Concept 650, it's wired directly into the electrics so operates the car's original solenoid.wurlycorner wrote: If it's anything like the way the after market is installed on mine, the alarm operates it's own solenoid that's clamped onto the lock/unlock rod inside the door on the drivers side. So the passenger side unlocks because the OEM central locking tells it to when the extra solenoid drives the drivers side (same principle as if you'd manually operated the 'lock' knob on the drivers side, the passenger side would lock/unlock).
Do you know if that's how your clifford alarm has been installed? If so, might be the after market solenoid has got cummed up/gone stiff and it can't operate itself when you use the clifford button and the OEM unlock solenoid can't overcome the force either???
Try undoing the solenoid clamp from the lock rod and then try the OEM system on its own to see if that works ok then???
No, but I've tried two remotes and it has the same fault. And, as it does unlock from both remotes, but not lock, the batteries must be fine.mercutio wrote:have you tried replacing the battery in the remote?
Yep, with the key, it's fine, so mechanically, it seems OK.bennyboy wrote:Does the central locking still work off the key?

Ah well at least that sort of simplifies it then, but looks like no quick fix - sounds like will have to go for the fault finding in the manual that merlin suggested. Or might (as a long shot) just be worth spraying some silicone spray into the lock mechanism first (the actual lock, not the barrel) just to see if it is stickyness/crud that's causing the problem...
I had a problem on Lisa's old Volvo where it wouldn't behave from the remote but was ok from the key. I sprayed tons of contact cleaner into the lock, operated it, sprayed silicone spray in, operated it etc repeatedly and it cured the problem (finishing with lots of silicone spray to make sure everything was suitably lubed)

Got your email Gordon, thanks. This is really bugging my OCD, I like to have everything working 100%.
Oh, and I had to disconnect the alternator again today, while fitting a new seal / gasket set to the valve cover. Needless to say, disconnecting the car battery was the first thing I done!
