I really think it would be absolutely fine.
Even if the oil has gunged up, it's gunged up in the sump not in the oilways (all drained down into the sump long before it started to gunge up) so change that before trying to start and it will be fine.

There's barn finds stood around for decades that with some fresh petrol and a new battery, fire straight up and run fine. Heck, all of my CX's have been stood longer than that thing but they're absolutely fine too, nothing wrong with them long-term.

My Sunny definitely has too  the only reason I know that wouldn't start if I tried it now is because the float in the carb has dried up and the brake servo/master cylinder seals have gone, so it's sucking too much air into the inlet manifold (I discovered it had munched its way through all the brake fluid last time I ran it about ten years ago   ). Aside from that, it would run fresh as a daisy.

Fingers crossed for whoever bought it. It would still be a big concern of mine though. We all know that Preludes hate sitting still.

I stripped an H22a7 that had sat for years and it was gunged to buggery to the point where I suspect it was unusable without a strip down.

I'm sure the engine would be fine, even if it's not, I valued it at £250 providing it had paperwork to back up the work that had been done. Wouldn't have been a deal breaker if it was scrap.

I should have bid more, gutted I didn't.

perhaps being so close to it you should have gone and had a viewing, i did, thats why i didn't bid on it. i think other than rob im the only person on here who has actually seen the state of it, for example how much would you value the front strut brace at when you find out its rusted, chrome and rust doesn't look good in my opinion, the brakes, how much are seized calipers and extremely rusted and pitted discs worth on a set of alloy bells ? moisture has got the better of everything inside and out.
this is the inside of the roof, and yes that is water dripping off it. everything has been wet for 7 or 8 years .

not everything is bolloxed obviously but a hell of a lot of it could be, the car is gone to poland and good luck to them i say, lets just hope that if half of it is knackered the bits don't end up for sale on here.

good luck with your hunt for a gtr rob and please don't park it up for years if you get bored of it

Ted is of course in a far better position than me to judge the car, having actually seen It - and it's not as if he doesn't know about cars, either! I didn't mean to suggest otherwise in either of those senses.

 that is an amazing amount of condensation inside the roof! I've never seen that much inside a car before :?

Ted, I only saw it the day before the auction ended. I tried to arrange a viewing but it wasn't possible.

pity it would have been nice to hear your value on things if you had.

im sure there are £2415 worth of salvagable goodies on there and the rest is a bonus if any good.

Well this is turning into a bit of a joke, insofar as the buyer has a full on vehicle transporter, i.e. the kind you see with multiple cars going to dealerships, coming from Poland to Ebbw Vale, problem being one of those is not going to get anywhere near the house where the car is let alone get the car upon it there, so he's now looking for me to get someone to transport from the house to the nearest industrial estate

Gazzumping .... might be the easier option :x
