Yeah its a good site, though postage can be pricey for small items.

I have ordered 2 of these today. About time I've inky had the car 5 years  also ordered the vtec one whist at it. All this just to move her of the ramp so I can fix my daily.

I wasn't too happy with the job i did on my lude when I replace this seal, didn't allocate enough time.

The access is really bad, try to get the car as high as possible (your axle stands on the lowest setting wont be enough, need a few more inches). also be wary that even when the oil filter is emptied after spilling everywhere, there is even more in the coooler afterwards (which i stupidly wasn't expecting for some unknown reason).

Even though the seal is replaced with a new one, i'm worried about the longevity of the fix, as the recess in the oil heat exchanger had a little left over crud, solid oil deposits, bits of the old seal etc. Nothing major, but enough for a rubber seal to not be 100% sealed up against. Plan in a little extra time to manipulate the position and clean/ream out the recess. The previous oil seal had gone very hard and slightly brittle.

I did a quick job with a right angled seal pick and some tissue paper but it wasn't perfect. The driveshaft is right in the way, and the coolant pipes are too short to allow serious manoeuvring.

I've only driven it twice since replacing so hard to tell if the leak is stopped, hopefully it has...

Don't forget to reconnect the oil pressure light switch :P

I've given my lude a good long (and hard) drive since doing this and can confirm that there is definitely no longer a leak from here, and the engine no longer smokes with oil dripping onto and burning on the exhaust. It also doesn't smell of something burning :-)

I agree that it's MUCH easier to get this job done by jacking up the car more than just a few notches on your axle stands. Also, so minimize the amount of oil that comes out of the cooler, jack the rear and front of the car to the same height.

glad you got it fixed 8-)

be carefull when moving the oil cooler about as ive had to replace the short coolant pipes that go either side of it as they can perish a bit from being soaked in oil ;)

I feel your pain doing it on axle stands! It's awkward enough on the ramp. I don't think my pressure switch is leaking but I'll did outonce I've put this back together.
