Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23A

Did some small jobs on the Lude today.
Needed to relocate the clutch fluid reservoir (I think.... ) after fitting the strut brace a while ago. It had been just hanging loose which couldn't of been good.
I adjusted the bracket it was on slightly and fixed it up next to the brake fluid reservoir.



Seems a lot tidier and still allows easy access for any servicing requirements.
I also wanted to check where I'm going to locate the BMC CDA.


However I will need to move the battery. So relocation to the boot is on. Just need to get the kit.
I also have a query... Does anyone know what this thin piping is for? Runs out of the throttle body into the air intake? not seen one before, but do not want to 'delete' if it is required.



Then I also did a quick fix on the seal which runs across the underneath of the bonnet. One of the clips was missing and it was hanging down. It was taped but this wasn't working so it is now glued solidly in place.


I then also got round to fitting my wind deflectors
Only missing two clips, one of each side but I will get some to replace at some point. Surprisingly easy job to fit, and very solid once in place. Only downside is I do not have the seals on the actual deflectors, but I have them to refit if required.



Also had a spot of rust under the driver side seal...


And the last clip wasn't playing ball. Tried to tape it to let the glue settle on the bracket but it didn't do the trick. So it's currently back off and clamped up to set.

When I went to put her back in the garage I noticed my bumper was sitting a bit low in the passenger side. Had a quick look and it seems it has a crack in the top corner where it joins to the side panel. Just at the wheel arch. Nothing visible from the outside its where the bolt sits to join them together. Bit annoying... but I'm hoping it's easy enough to fix.

This thing
just to the left of your finger on the front of the manifold, is the 'air boost valve'. It's only on UKDM ludes (I think).

Is that what you're asking about the pipe being for?

Is has a very thin connection to the air intake?? Just wondering whether it is required I keep that for when I fit the BMC CDA.

Today I sorted out a few small bits again.
Got a couple of spare clips for the rear window trim which runs across the bottom of the rear screen. Fitted and now it sits flush. No more leaky boot as well.

Also got both wind deflectors on properly now. Just need a small trim pin thing to connect the last clips. I have one complete and one minus the small rivet.

I also sorted my front bumper, was quite easy I just used a bigger washer on the bolt to hold the body work up. Was very happy. So I went out for a good drive. My concern now though minus a couple of small styling bits like a new back box and refurb the wheels, I've just got my engine to tackle (which I'm contemplating a bastardised H22 build, or a K swap with supercharger) and fitting the bushings.

Then I may have 'completed' my Lude...

Was enjoying the Prelude today letting her stretch her legs.
She ticked over 75,000 miles. Feel like she's only just bedding in. Haha

Every now and again it sinks in I can have her for a very long time.

Here are a few snaps from JAE me and some mates took. There was a nice spot round the back near our plot.













Those who notice I'm not running a number plate, it's due to it falling off on the way to JAE. Had to stick it on the dash for the weekend. Thankfully no cops got funny about it.

Anyway, it was a great weekend. Great to see some of you again and meet new people.
Lots of ideas have spawned from it though.... So roll on next year where hopefully my Prelude will be making more of a statement.

So I went to a small meet up on Saturday night with some mates. I thought I would play true to the law so I reattached my number plate.
However on the drive home the damn thing fell off. Now I wouldn't of minded so much but I happened to be trundling along the A1 at the time at 70mph, and it decided to bump its way along the underneath of my car.

The bracket left its mark....


Bit annoyed as that's gone through the paint. I am going to take it back into the coachworks were I had her re sprayed anyway so I will get this touched up at the same time. But highly frustrating.
I know also need a new number plate and mount...

What number plate mount was it that broke off?

It was a password JDM style. Side mounted.
I had just mounted it using the double sided tape as this has done the job before. Obviously not the best idea for the fastest and lowest car I've had. I think it was catching a bit of air which is why it pulled itself off.
