Daily car..

Just want to give the Type-S a break for now for lots of reasons. Don't want to clock too much miles on it, there are speed humps everywhere, I can't fit no one in the back properly and don't want the winter destroying it. I was thinking about selling it and getting a brand newish family car (4dr Saloon) but then if I sold the Type-S I might not get another one anytime soon.

So deciding to get a daily car for a bit. That way I can keep the Type-S and have a shitty car for daily use and I wouldn't care if someone wrote that off.

I am thinking about getting this Civic (for sale next to me) Gumtree

I have seen it lots of time as it's near work.. The car had a small knock on the driver side headlight but it was botched up together using parts from other coloured Civic and it wasn't dealt with insurance etc.. I don't mind the body work as it's not going to be my pride and joy, as long it gets me from A to B. The car looks good as a daily drive.

What do you guys think?

Would I be able to get that car on my existing policy as a second car?

I bought the Mrs a civic after she crashed her new car as a run about and it's been great. She got a 1.6 LS coupe. Quite fun to drive and awesome on fuel (shes averaging 45+mpg), seats were terrible tho but I've changed the fronts to lude seats

Haha, that looks hilariously bodged. Surely you can find something better than that, even for 500 quid. Plenty of old focuses and primeras around that price, and the odd Golf or non-bodged civic. Tastefully rusty Pumas and FTOs can be had for £700.

Or if you get really desperate, you could always find a 4th gen and probably have change left over

PS - don't sell the Type S, you'll never find another one.

Insurers tend not to like second cars on policies now, but there's only one way to find out for sure...

That Civic doesn't look cheap enough at £500, with that kind of bodge up repair.

get another lude maybe a 2 litre to get you through the winter if you have a drive you cant take your type s off the insurance but if not then i t will have to stay on you could explain the situation to the insurer that its coming off the road for the winter they may be able to help in some way

What Iain said. But think carefully before you sell your type-s. You probably won't get another one, and certainly not in as good nick.

And don't buy that beat-up civic. There's only about 200 quids worth there I'd say! Any of those 3 wurly posted look good to go; and you can more than likely knock them down a bit as well.

Thanks for some advice..

I was only wanting a small 3door Honda as when I finish with it I can give it to my gf or my sister (both new drivers) Plus I will try to knock down the price of that beat up Civic.

Other cars like the James's Volvo and long aerodeck won't be good for both the potential new drivers in the future..

Would I be able to add the Shitvic in my Prelude's policy?
