Bad day part 2

Post by paul bristol uk » Mon Dec 02, 2013 7:46 pm

Some of you may remember tihs post.http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/general ... t3700.html
Well today exactly the same thing happened to my Soarer(except the dent is a bit bigger and the end of the bumper is not as clever ) Car parked legally in a parking spot on the side of the road when a couple of old badgers in a punto hit it in the same panel. Came and found me and my wife in a shop and owned up.
I got an estimate from the guy who repaired it before. £400 cash.
Advised Admiral as I am required to do who want to send an assessor. I made it quite clear to them I was not claiming and under no circumstances do I want the car written off Body shop guy said its touch and go if they did and I stood a chance of loosing the car. The insurance repair would be close to a grand. spoke on the phone to the old twats husband of the woman who hit my car and said. If you want to keep the insurance company out of it I will accept £450 and forget the matter. Turns out they have a protected no claims bonus on this w reg punto and are thinking about it till the morning.
So my questions are as follows
Forget the questions while writing this 3rd parties insurance have rung me saying their insured had admitted liability and go ahead and get it done now and they will pay the bill.
Two identical accidents and two identical results
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

if you don't go through the insurance, never mention it to the insurance company

it will be noted down as a claim, sounds daft but its the way it is

Oooff  Still waiting to see if there's any loading on my insurance, as delays from the 3rd party caused me to have to use my own to sort it out!!

Not again, sorry to hear Paul. Always had a soft spot for Soarers, I do like yours. Always wanted a 2.5 twin turbo manual for drifting but they're pretty rare models now.

Hope it gets sorted out and there are no issues with write-offs and what not. You can intervene and provide a quotation for the £400 repair and say that this is the garage you wish to proceed with. You don't have to use the insurers approved repairers. They should approve it ok, and it should be less than the cars worth by the assessor.

Good luck mate.

But as the others said, stop parking where numptys are! Oh, wait...that's everywhere!

Absolutely right. My household insurance has gone up 40% (across all quotes) because I rang shitander to ask them to explain part of the policy to me, as to whether I would be able to claim for the pre-existing water damage I'd found in my house (mentioned on here earlier this year). I literally just said "I've read this bit of your policy booklet and I'm not sure whether it would cover it, please can you explain what it means". Dipshit on the phone (despite being their claims line) didn't know and said there would be no-one else around the explain it to me for another 2 days. Next day I get a call back saying I wouldn't be covered and that was that.

Come renewal time my premium has gone up, I get quotes elsewhere much less, go to take one out and they say 'oh, you've said there were no claims but we have one down here for water leak'. Long story short, the kebabs have logged it as a claim that they rejected and that's now put my water risk rating up across all insurers and the kebabs refuse/say they are unable to remove it from my record and it will affect for the next 6 years. No mention at the time that they would be recording it as a claim and they were rejecting it, nothing ever through in writing. kebabs.

So yep, don't tell them ANYTHING, even if you're not going to claim. They WILL log it and it WILL affect future premiums.

(still seething, months later)

Well its being paid for by the 3rd parties insurance. No problem on quote £550+vat. I booked it in for today as I was told all good until insurance company on Friday morning said they wanted to inspect it NEXT Friday(13th). Now the insurance company insurers assessor works out of their office a quarter or a mile away. spent most of Friday on the phone trying to move things along. I finally got my way saying OK then as your Email to me states I can hire a car at their expense but I would need a large auto with infinitely adjustable seats for my disability. That was not really working so I said did they want me to park the car across the exit to their car park that afternoon so no one could go home until they had seen it. 10 minutes later I had a call back from their engineering dept saying get it done They were happy with the quote. Honestly it is a good price and I was not trying to rip them off and in fact saving them money by not having a replacement car or getting them to pick it up or deliver it back.
