It's pretty easy to get the head off, just start undoin everything attached but leave the inlet mani on.

It's abit more difficult gin back together doin the timing and new belt etc

Head removal will be in the service manual (in the wiki lude section).

Haven't read up for lude engines, but normally you want to slacken off head bolts in the correct order rather than just hacking into them all, to avoid warping the head. (can also be true for camshaft bearing/rocker shaft bolts on some engines for same reason). I'd assume it's the same for ludes, so make sure you do have a read of the manual first.

Do you need new studs as well? I know on my Golf I had to buy new head bolts as they stretch or something :?

As said, follow the manual and you won't go far wrong, and as JJ says, you'll need new head bolts; ARP are your best bet as there reusable.

If you want some pics to visualise, there's plenty here......http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/post8188.html#p8188

Awesome thank you for the advice guys :) I'll take a look now and that's exactly what i wanted to know about the head bolts and I kind of knew about the camshaft bolts having to come off in a specific order I know the basics I just feel happier seeing pics as following a guide!!

Each to their own :)
