cat woes
Hi guys,
I have had my lude 6 months now and its been great (i have done more miles in 6 months than the car had done in the last 11 years lol). I noticed a rattle pulling away so took it to work and got it up on the ramp. My cat has broken apart which sucks as mr h wanted £720 inc vat for a new one. I ordered one from euro car parts for fifty quid and its about 3 inches too long. This is the only one they list for my car. Luckily there is no o2 sensor after the cat so i gutted mine and got all of the broken bits out. The car drives fine although slightly smelly :)With an mot due in jan i was wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere to source a cat from ?
Cheers
Steve

(Don't know if there's a difference in the cat between JDM/UKDM on 5th gens???) They'll be able to confirm though.

Just 2 weeks ago I got a sports CAT supplied and fitted from here http://www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk for £150
The sports CAT is small so they fabricated extra pipe work to make it fit in the existing gab. I'm no expert but it looks a nice tidy job and I can really feel the difference of a sports over normal CAT.

hmmm, I think this just happened to me (got sold wrong size cat).
My old cat got blocked a few weeks after a track day, so I stuck a decat on for 40quid from ebay. MOT a year later I knew id need a cat. Got one for 50quid from ebay, only to be told its ~2 inches too long by the garage.
Cheapest option in the end was to get the garage to cut ~2 inches out of the exhaust, and use a long adjustable clamp/sleeve to join it. That way I can still use my cheap cat, and slide my exhaust back to use the decat if i can be bothered...
Chap at the garage was very reasonable about resolving it for me, but i guess some places wont be so mindful or thoughtful...
