Exhaust manifold (flex pipe cost)

Post by G-lude » Fri Apr 10, 2015 8:04 pm

So its been a couple of weeks since my MOT and I had an advisory for a minor exhaust leak from the front flex joint.

I figured it may be a good excuse to upgrade my manifold but from looking around I can see a lot of talk about The 2-1 section hanging too low on some of the upgrade options..

I've got my eye on an Accord type r Manifold at a decent price. Would this bolt up? Are there better alternatives?

Since I bought the Lude a year ago everytime I start the car the revs jump up to perhpas 2500-3000 for a second before settling back down again. Is this normal? I've cleaned out the IACV, EGR and checked the FITV valves. I've just grown to except it as it doesn't really effect anything. Perhaps the minor exhaust leak might have a contribution?

not sure if the accord type r manifold will fit without modification i think it has a completely different exhaust layout to the lude

Need the downpipe as well as the manifold and need to notch the front cross member of the car.

I've just fitted ATR set up on mine and as above you have to take a bit off the cross member but its a good mod

I know it sounds dumb but what do you mean take a bit off the crossmember, what tools would I need to get it done?

If I owned an angle grinder and was confident to use one of probably go for this mod, but perhaps for the moment I'll just look into getting the flex joint replaced.

Any ideas on the cost of getting a new one welded in?
