94 prelude cutting out in traffic flashing s mode

Post by jakeebbon » Wed Jul 15, 2015 10:16 pm

Hey guys having some issues with my lude :(

every now and then it'll cut out completely losing all power, normally happens in traffic and when it does happen i get a check engine light and a flashing sport mode light. car wont start for about 20 seconds take the keys out the ignition and back in and its back to normal again. the guy i bought it from had an aftermarket immobilizer put in so i have to carry around these two small black dongles on my keys i was thinking it might be something to do with that maybe

any help is appreciated

It would be unusual for the car to cut out like that due to an alarm, unless there's a short or a flat battery somewhere.

Welcome.
Have you checked what fault codes have been stored by the ecu?
You can do this by shorting the service connector. I think there is a guide in our wiki pages, if not the main Honda service manual can be downloaded from there and that tells you how to do it.

Post up what you find.

Glad it seems to have sorted it for now.
Would have been good to get the fault codes before resetting though really, in case of any future problems (gives a head start on what to check).

Let us know if any further problems though.
