The end of an era

Post by farlow » Tue Oct 06, 2015 4:42 pm

Hi guys, I haven't been online in ages so I hope you're all well. Also sorry for the last minute drop out of JAE, it couldn't be helped i'm afraid.

Anyway the reason i'm writing this post is that I need rid of my lude, it pains me to say it but it has fallen in to disrepair after a minor accident and I have neither the time, money or inclination to fix it.

The problem is the car is now a none runner, theres loads of money tied up in it and I know i'll see very little of it back but I cant decide how to go about selling it. Breaking it is such an effort and selling as spares or repairs seems such a waste.

I guess what I want to know is would it be worth me starting a breaking thread on here or would anyone be interested in buying the full car. If so what on earth would it even be worth. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

List the bits get people to post up if they want them if you get a person for everything break it or you might even get someone to make an offer on the whole car

I guess that's probably the way to go mate, I'd have to check my build thread to remind myself what's actually available for sale

Sad times indeed mate but if I leave it any longer there won't be much left of it to sell.

Sad indeed, but I can understand where you are.

Breaking is indeed quite a lot of effort - you could say if you're going down that route, might as well spend the time repairing it instead

What is more important to you? Money? Time? Space? Having the car 'live on'? If you can put them in order of preference, that should probably tell you which route to go down...

Time is probably the least important to me at the minute but the car is currently on the drive as there's no room in the garage. As such its about to endure another british winter and will be in an even worse state come next year.

Also I've been mucking about with cars long enough now to know that the bodywork alone is gonna cost me close to £1000 and im simply not gonna have that kinda money soon enough to save the car. It would be easier and possibly cheaper to buy another lude and swap all the bits over.

Trouble is, knowing what I know now it would have to be the perfect base to re-start my project. That would mean finding a mint JDM sir tin top for reasonable money here in the UK and lets face it, ive got more chance of seeing the queens t**s.

I know that feeling all too well at the moment buddy.
Mines pretty much in the same state. The Accord gets more attention at shows than my lude ever did.
I'm deciding whether to have one last bash at it or break it to fund another project.

It's a nightmare mate, my preludes the only reason I'm still driving Hondas. I can't believe I'm even considering this.

Yup heart vs head decision.
ludes ain't worth jobby. If it was a teg or a civic it would be a different situation because they fetch good money. But how much do you keep throwing at something thats worth less than 1k
