3rd gen exhaust manifolds - what's the difference?

Post by fefelarue » Thu Oct 22, 2015 5:59 pm

Hey y'all!

I'm planning to buy a 3rd gen exhaust manifold from ebay USA (as there are none anywhere in england)
but there seems to be two different ones:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191107252297? ... EBIDX%3AIT

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131538249266? ... EBIDX%3AIT

It seems only one fits the 4WS variety (of course it's the more expensive one!) but is there an actual difference? The pictures look the same, and they're both for DOHC engines which I assume are all the same shape/fitment?

Any help would be awesome, thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply

I'm thinking it might be how some things are positioned in the engine bay, or maybe the year affecting the sensors or something, are there even any sensors in it? I can't see any..

I 'd love to know for sure, as I can't really return it to the USA :S Anyone had more than one 3rd gen and swapped manifolds between the two?

They look to be exactly the same to me? Just a different seller, describing and pricing them differently?

I don't think there is any difference 4ws to non-4ws. As said in another thread though, there is a difference between carbon and injection.

Both those are for injection.

Been looking at those myself. Look nice. My green one is staying fully standard though, so not going there at the moment (plus I have more pressing issues with it  )

Yeah I think they look the same too! I just remember on my old peugeot I bought a mani which was identical to another one, but then didnt work cos it was missing a lambda hole hidden in the back haha, I just didnt want the same situation.

I think i'll go for it unless I get offered one in my wanted thread before the weekend.

Sure I can't persuade you to do a group buy and share postage? :D

"Hi there,

Is there any reason this wouldn't fit any 89 DOHC prelude? There are identical looking ones for sale that say they fit all cars, and I thought all mk3 preludes have the same manifold fitment.

Thanks"

Thank you, looking forward to your reply, as I am ready to place the order once this is confirmed.

There must be a difference, anyone know?

Seems the facelift version has something different about it..
