5g alternator problem and 5g-4g loom swap question
a mates 5g f22 uses a square plug for the alternator. his alternator failed (went of fire) tonight, but has two spare 4g ones.
-first question is, could he cut the wires for current 5g f22 alternator plug, and cut & paste (yes, im using the I.T term) the 4g loom plug over and connect it up so he could then use the 4g spare alternator.
he would just get a replacement 5g f22 alternator but he has a h22 (from a 4g) ready to be swapped over next weekend. he has a 4g loom too if required.
-second question is, if and when he does the f22 to h22 swap, is he best keeping the 5g wiring loom and making some changes to the plugs for the new engine, or swapping to the 4g wiring loom which im sure will cause problems with the 5g f22 ecu and injector resistor wiring..?

theoretically it should work but why not get a proper alternator that way the loom stays intact and less issues going forward i have a couple of new 5g alternators

If you're going to the trouble of hacking looms about to make a 4g alternator fit in order to save the cost of buying a replacement, you might as well just take the old one off and repair it yourself.
It will take about the same amount of time, be a better solution and probably not cost much.
Regulators (I assume that's what's failed?) are normally easy to pick up and it's easy to change them.

ok you have already had a fire with your own alternator have you sussed out why that happened ? what caused that? then your going to chop up the wiring to the alternator to splice in a 4g plug making the wiring to the alternator that just burst into flames that little bit less safe.? for the sake of how much?
sometimes you can penny pinch in the wrong places these are not Supercars but they are pretty technical
