I imagine it would be, but why would your friend want to turn it off?

If the thought is that it would turn it into a normal 2ws car, I'm afraid it doesn't - When 4ws is turned off, the wheels aren't absolutely locked in the centre, you get some uncontrolled movement (especially under rutted roads or hard driving).

The only way to have the car as proper 2ws, is to convert it.
