O/S suspension refitted

She's still looking pretty sorry for herself :(

Knackered caliper - At this point I'd already pulled the piston out and realised it was shot, so popped it back in ready for some more sandblasting

Money is getting tight again so I may have to resort to stripping and painting the slam panel etc as I've already bought the paint  My goal of getting her back on the road for summer seems pretty unlikely now but I'm getting a lot of fun rebuilding her at the moment so I'll stick at it 8-) I should at least get the engine running soon

Fantastic work, Johnny, going to such lengths, the car is certainly worth the effort!

New front disks arrived today and caliper rebuild kit should arrive tomorrow so figured I better prepare the knackered old caliper pictured above for surgery. You should know the score by now, sandblast and hammerite everything

Rust and old paint (hammerite haha) removed

Depending how they come out I may or may not put another coat on tomorrow, we shall see :D

haha cheers matey 8-) I'll try and take a pic of the sand blaster when I've stripped the n/s caliper down. It's a pretty standard (and pretty old!) cabinet as far as I know - it's not mine, its in the workshop at work but bloody handy to have access to it ;)

Ah cool cool chap. I bet it's handy to have a cabinet blaster. I would constantly be using it

As requested, the cabinet blaster...

Unfortunately my caliper refurb bits didn't arrive today so I had to make do with putting another coat of paint on the caliper instead  All very well, but means I need to put two coats on the n/s one so it matches now - doubling my workload through boredom

Had a bit of time in the workshop this afternoon so decided to whip the N/S front caliper off and get it ready for its new piston and seals. Thought I'd take a few photos as I cleaned the bits up - y'know, just for a change

Image
Showing slight signs that it may have been laying on the ground under a car for 3 years

Image
Stripped into bits - I left the old seals etc in place to protect the internals from sand ingress. They're being replaced anyway.

Image
Caliper in the blast chamber :) Don't worry, my arms haven't turned to mush, they're not actually in the gloves at this point ;)

Image
Caliper done 8-)

Image
Caliper and carrier done 8-)

Image
Pad mounting brackets cleaned up.

Now I just need to pop the piston and seals out, give it some paint and rebuild both calipers. Then start work on whatever I break next... I've bought some underseal so will be brushing that on in the arches at some point, hopefully protect it for some years to come :) Got the idea when reading through TBOW's track lude build thread last night ;) Ta matey
