Never build a race car

It was one of those days today

I picked the car up in the morning from Stainless Creations in Falkirk

The exhaust is nice. It is more quiet than my old exhuast and much less raspy, which I like.

Knowing the A/F ratio may be out I pootled round the corner to Hypertech for my SLS power to weight testing session. When I got there we weighed the car with a third of tank in her.

Image

She came in at 1158kg which includes 60kg of cage (25 meters of pipe) and those moster front discs. What the corner weight machine highlighted to me was how much I need to set my suspension. I knew I needed to do it but was leaving it until next month.

So it was dyno time  Last November this car was on this dyno it recorded 223 bhp. First thing I did was to get the dyno operator to have a look at my A/F ratio. It showed that the car was running lean in the higher rpm  There was noting else to do but take it off the dyno and call it a day.

I got on the phone to Henry Roy at Tiple H Performance in Irvine who said to bring the car down to him but I would probably have to leave the car with him. So with a 3rd of a tank of fuel I headed off with my phone satnav and pootled again.

I did not see one single Shell garage the whole way there

I got there and his shed had some nice things

His afternoon booking didnt turn up so my car was tuned

But! Now I had 3 bars of fuel and 15% on my phone  The Shell app says there was a station in Kilmarnock which is on the way home, great :D Vtec here Vtec there, get there and they say they cant sell me and fuel as thier tills just broke :x Back to the app and it says there is one in Glasgow 18 miles away, load the address into the satnav, 2 bars of fuel left 9% battery on my phone :? The fooking battery ran out before Glasgow and I didnt know where to find the Shell station. In the end, with my fuel light on, managed to find a Tesco and put in some Momentum 99 to see me home.

What a nightmare!

Wish I had known you were in Irvine, I would have popped round. ( In Troon now :D) I was off today.

I did the exact same thing on Wednesday!!! Went to the Shell in Kilmarnock, tills were down so I had to limp to Glasgow to get VPower. Was on vapour  at least I knew where the Shell in Glasgow was though

Great dedication Merlin, well done.
Did you have any bodily fluids left after you arrived at the dyno tuner and saw the nsx and crx?

 so hypertech can weigh the car and stick it on their crap dyno, but they can't tune it? :?

Yeah they don't do Hondata.

It sure was. We had a chat about it. He was the guy who originally built the engine for TaffyLude. He said he certianly never expected to see it again

He smoothed out a lot of the lumpiness in the rev range and the car pulls much smoother.
