Yea thanks man. Well I removed the plugs and there is spark.

Will of course try the relay you sent when it arrives.

But I've metered the voltage going to the fuel pump, and when I spin the starter it's there.

I'm stumped!

All these things did it on mine. Was the main relay in the end.

when you took the plugs out could you smell fuel ? try removing the spark plugs unplug the dizzy and spin it over see if you can smell fuel
then check all the earths on and around the engine and try it with the different main relay

I didn't smell fuel, but that could have been because the plugs got soaked with oil when I withdrew them, the plug wells have oil in. That's another days work.

I guess I'll stop taking the car apart now until the relay comes, and try it then, in case there's something I'm missing with it.

Annoying!

Yep, I'm with ratty.
You will get the fuel pressure when you first switch ignition on, because the relay typically works then (and when the ignition switch is in 'start') hence the engine will also fire then.
What happens is the relay doesn't stay in when the separate feed from the ecu comes in (engine fired up) and you drop the ignition switch back to ignition.

…ation.

Relay arrived with thanks to Vanzep, but no joy.

Same symptoms. Engine spins but doesn't fire.

Really stumped now!

Replace the whole dizzy. It could be the built in crank position sensor.
