No rev counter!!

Post by bb1boy » Fri Mar 29, 2013 11:42 am

Drove to Tesco, all good, got back in the car and rev counter isn't working! Fuses in footwell look fine, speedo works, turn signals work, all dash lights work but no rev counter! Nothing looks loose under the bonnet, all plugs are connected, fuses under bonnet look ok.. I'm stumped!
Any ideas from you intelligent lot?

Apparently the ICM in the dizzy could be a problem, but I thought that would cause a jumpy tach? Also could be something to do with a blue wire going to the tach, I don't know, plus its cold and getting dark so I'll have a look tomorrow..

(...not that anyone other than Newkid seemed to be able to offer any help here, so in the interest of completing threads...) ...I have solved my dead tacho problem by taking the dizzy apart and cleaning up the electrical connections, put it back together, fired it up, there was a delay of about half a second and then it jumped into life :D TFFT!

I'm pretty sure my problem was to do with the connections in and around the dizzy. That said, my alternator belt does squeal a little, especially in the rain.. but I always forget about it until it squeals again and by that time its peeing down with rain and I don't wanna get wet! ..prob should replace all my belts really.
