I was gonna suggest something similar myself, I know that's a common solution when fitting after market intakes.

Only thing that bugs me about it though is that although it means the rocker cover remains vented, it loses the vacuum that the connection to the intake provides. How much difference that makes in practice I don't know, but it would mean the balance of pressures around the engine is changed... :?
