What is that sat behind the air filter?

Well you get ions when electrons move from one atom to another, basically. Salt is a common ionic compound.

Maybe the magic box makes salt?!

In some radio controlled cars they fit this sort of thing

namely called a "HEAT SINK" it is supposed to catch air and cool it through the fins

never seen it used like this and would do bugger all except trap hot air from fanimould

and heat up that nasty metal pipe that is already heating the air up anyway

a true hot air induction system

what next ? build a mini fridge around it and try to cool it down
