All help appreciated guys ! :geek:
Glad the new rad has helped.

Yeah that's a bit high.

Check the resistance of your coolant temp sensor (the one that feeds the ecu) when cold and when hot and post up what figures you get . I forget what's correct now, so I'll re-check mine today/tomorrow to compare.

a high idle can sometimes be the simple things you overlook ;)
mine had a hunt problem that was just the tps needed ajusting and then my idle was up past 1000 and all it was, was the throttle cable ajuster was stuck ;)

just have a quick check your cable isn't too tight :)

Hey everyone, cheers for the responses! After a bit of driving around the rpm did come down to below 1k, about 850-900, so for the moment im happy with that, started her up today and it seems to be returning to the right idle speed after a few mins now (perhaps coolant needed to do a complete runthrough the system a few times?) Couldnt believe how quiet the engine was when pulling in for fuel, thought it had turned off!!

and about these HT leads - can never ask a question without about 3 different responses  At the moment, going and spending about £90 on some good leads whilst a sound investment isnt quite in my budget, will something like the following do?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Prelude ... 35c5e6affc

Or potentially

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8MM-RED-SILIC ... 232a13418c

Seen a different thread about the suggested sparkplugs, so wont open that can of worms here :D

was going to say the red 8mm look good but in the useage it says will not fit h22a2 that means no good for h22a either ;) the red ones seem to be for 1997 onwards :?: bit strange as most h22 are all the same :?:

right this keeps confusing me, so a h22a2 is what, the SIR version, the H22a5 and a8 versions being the standard 2.2vtec for either the mk4 or mk5?

Update - well this may be more urgent to resolve than expected! Just driven it to the shops, was a bit hesitant and sounded off. Got back with my shopping and it won't start, ticks over but won't spark :( can someone tell me what's needed out of the garage so I can go back and perhaps take off the plugs out and clean? Also, anyone got some for sale like ASAP: :?

Sounding like a distributor problem rather than plugs/leads?

Does sound like the dizzy, unfortunately this could have been caused by dodgy leads as the h22 dizzy's tend to die when run without a spark plug connected.

Thanks guys, feedback at a time like this is really appreciated! Going to make use of the tax cover to get it towed to a garage and get them to give it a look over and stick some new leads and plugs. Dizzy replace a big job?
