Is the pulley damaged or lose? They normally either work themselves undone or the rubber damper bit fails so they end up in 2 bits.

Worth looking into if it's the pulley slapping into the block rather than anything terminal. If it's not at least you know it's deffo bottom end damage

Well the noise is horrendous, but if you look at the video from around 30secs onwards (when you can see the pulley and centre bolt) the pulley looks obviously off, but the centre bolt looks like it's spinning true? Which might indicate the crank is still spinning true???

Probably clutching at straws, but I reckon Ammo's suggestion is worth following.

Presumably you could unbolt the pulley and remove it and the bolt (and any key) completely, then start the engine with the pulley removed, to see how it sounds?
You'd get your battery warning light on because of no alternator charge, but it would confirm about crank/pulley being the problem?

Is your oil pressure warning light on? If your crank bearings are gone, you'll have low oil pressure and the warning light should be on?

I don't remember seeing a oil pressure light on, but I do have several others on already.

Regarding loosening & tightening the pulley; I'd most likely need some help with that. And probably wouldn't get a chance to do that before Japfest at any rate.

If I was closer i'd come have a look

I'm only saying have a look as I bought my last Lude as the Cambelt had snapped, in actual fact the bottom pulley had failed

New pulley, working car again

Just trying to avoid you making the same mistake and letting a car go and it's a simple fix

Yeah, good shout. Definitely worth a look for sure. Gonna be talking to a few peeps over the weekend about it at Japfest, then Dbo & I will no doubt tackle it one way or another after that. You at Japfest?
